Philly&#8217;s Urbanist PAC, 5th Square,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.5thsq.org\/parking_tax_action\"> is organizing more opposition<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charlottesville Says No To New Garage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you follow <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jbouie\">NYT Opinion columnist Jamelle Bouie<\/a> you probably know that Charlottesville has been considering a multi-million dollar parking garage. Opponents of the plan carried the day and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-ville.com\/put-it-in-reverse\">the city will build a new surface lot instead<\/a>. Surface lots are just apartment buildings waiting to happen, structured parking is a 30 year commitment to more cars in your city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New Tools for Reformers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Urban Land Institute has put together a <a href=\"https:\/\/knowledge.uli.org\/en\/reports\/research-reports\/innovations-in-parking-policy?q&amp;sortBy=relevance&amp;sortOrder=asc&amp;page=1\">neat searchable dataset<\/a> of parking reforms in the USA. It&#8217;s a nice companion to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parkingreformatlas.org\/\">Parking Reform Atlas<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And a recent report from UCLA&#8217;s Adam Millard-Ball <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/newsletters\/2021-06-02\/maplab-could-wide-streets-be-used-for-housing\">analyzed the high cost of wide residential streets<\/a>.
